THE Dandan Softball Field became unplayable yesterday due to Typhoon Champi so the Belau Softball Association had to move the Men’s Masters League to next Sunday.
Beleau Softball Secretary and Treasurer Perry Besong in an interview said they also anticipated rains so they decided to cancel the championship series between Brotherhood and the San Antonio Masters scheduled at 12 noon yesterday.
“There was not guarantee it will not rain today so we had to cancel the finals and move it to next Sunday,†Besong said.
He added that this year’s Belau Men’s Masters finals will run in a best-of-three championship series between the pennant champions, Brotherhood and the S.A. Masters.
Brotherhood went undefeated in the regular season.
In the playoff, they gave up their only loss to IP&E that made it to the semis against the S.A. Masters.
In last Sundays’ game however, Jeff Cabrera hit a grand slam to help S.A. Masters clinch the finals over IP&E, 18-15. He went 3-for-4 including the grand slam.
S.A. Masters pitcher John Cepeda also went 3-for-4 including a two-run home run in the second.
Ike Cabrera scored three runs and two base hits including an RBI single in the third.
Rep. Ralph N, Yumul hit a solo home run and scored two runs to help the S.A. Masters secured their win.
